Arizona - Topock Placer Area
I just came across directions to one of my old placer areas that I kept private for a long time. It was quite productive in those years and worth driving the distance. It's located just East of the Mohave River near Topock, Arizona.

I got interested after reading about the area in an old library book. So I copied it down on an old note which reads:

In 1860 miners drywashed gravels in Calizona placer on Southwest side of Mountain. Gold removed from Fasher diggings, Silver Creek, “49”, Chief, and Prentice Gultch.

My weathered note states: 9 miles East of Topock , Southeast approx. 15 miles to vicinity of Chemehrievis Mountains (About 20 miles North of Lake Havasu City)? Dirt roads lead to various Placer areas – can't be accurately located on topo maps because mapping of “Buck” Mountain quadrangle is incomplete. Most deposits of placer milning activity concentrated on Southwestern flank of Mountains in area East of Colorado River. (Probably7 near Sec. 25-28 T.15N, R20W; Ropock Triangle. Early 1930's placers milned on Northeastern side of mountains in Dutch and Printers Gulches (prox. T.15N, R9W, Needles quadrangle. Article Manager module by by George! Software.
