Placer Gold - Arizona: Southwest (Dome Mtns Area)
Gila City, Dome, Castle Dome Mtns., La Paz, Trigo, and Plomosa areas of southwestern Arizona.

Gila City Placers – 20 miles East of Yuma at the Northern end of Gila Mountains. Most productive area has been the Monitor Gulch.

Dome (City) – Some large nuggets found in benches in the gulches west of dome. Most all gulches from an area ¼ mile East to 3 miles west of Dome contain gold. Deposits are spotty with some high-grade pockets.

Muggins (City) – contain several gold placers. Burro Canyon has been the most productive area. Several high-grade areas in other canyons created by the gold being washed down from conglomerates on canyon walls.

Castle Dome Mountains – 31 miles northeast of Dome. Placer deposits in several gulches and canyons in area. Must dig rather deep to find gold as its mostly all near or on bedrock.

La Paz - La Paz placer deposits are at Western foot of the Dome Rock Mountains, about 6 miles east of Colorado River. Gold is found in gravel deposits in Goodman and La Paz canyons and in tributary gulches running into the arroyas. Ferrari Gulch is still rumored to produce the most gold.

Trigo Placers – Located further south on the western slope of Dome Rock Mountains. The gold is in the cemented type gravel.

Plomosa Placers – In washes and arroras that empty into La Posa Plain between Plamosa Mountains and Dome Rock Mountains. Most productive are: La Cholla, Oro Fine, Middle Camp, near Dome Rock Mountains. Article Manager module by by George! Software.
